When I couldn’t find a job in illustration or design at home, I decided I would start my own business. I saw a clear opportunity to introduce fine craft and professional illustration to a market that didn’t really have it (and probably didn’t know it could be done.) 

I was thrilled, I had a bunch of ideas, a bunch of supplies and a bunch of talent. I aligned all my social media accounts to focus on this new business and I officially went forth with Janique Crenshaw Illustration in December 2011. 

Since then, I’ve had a bunch of setbacks including financial straits, serious illness, lack of time, and equipment breaks. It just seemed like there was a lot going against the success of the business. But I know my work is good and has sold out before at market, so I know there’s something to be proud of and to keep striving for.

I have a new outlook, a new plan, new products that are going to be phenomenal and faith! Let’s hope for some good breaks in the upcoming months!
